The New Hampshire Division of Parks and Recreation recognizes that your pet is an important part of your recreation experience. When hiking with pets, be sure to take the following guidelines into consideration:
Be sure the physical condition of your pet is adequate for your intended hike.
Bring enough water for both you and your pet .
Pack first aid supplies for your pet.
To ensure a pleasurable and safe visit for pets and park visitors, please take the time to familarize yourself with the following rules which are in effect if you bring your pet with you to share in your outdoor experience.
You must clean up after your pet.
Pets are prohibited at all state beaches, picnic areas, and historic sites.
Pets are not to be left unattended in any vehicle, camper, carrier, or enclosure at any time.
Each pet shall be on a leash, under control, and attended to at all times while in a park.
Please remember that you are responsible for your pet's actions; if a pet becomes objectionable to any park visitor, the owner will be asked to remove the pet from the park.
To serve the needs of all park visitors, the Division has designated areas that permit pets. To check whether a particular N.H. State Park allows pets, visit Parks at a Glance.
